We will take a full medical history from you and assess your BMI from your height and weight. This information, which must be truthful and accurate, will be passed to our medical prescriber, who will, in turn, issue a prescription. In case of any query, the prescriber will get in touch with you by phone or email.

This is a course of injections which are self-administered to the stomach area on a daily basis. (it is a tiny needle!). You will need a small sharps box from the chemist or from the clinic. These may be returned to the clinic for disposal. DO NOT DISPOSE OF NEEDLES OR SHARPS BOXES IN HOUSEHOLD RUBBISH.

The drug prescribed is liraglutide, trade name Saxenda. This is a prescription only medicine. You can come into the clinic to collect your Saxenda, alternatively it can be sent to you directly from our pharmacy. Saxenda works by mimicking a hormone in the intestine that tells your brain your stomach is full. However fewer calories and more exercise can also be beneficial!

NOTE

You cannot use Saxenda if you have:

• Allergies
• Thyroid disease
• Diabetes
• Are acutely unwell
• Are under 18 years of age

Method of administration

• Wash hands thoroughly
• Remove lid from pen
• Assemble one of the supplied needles
• Turn the base of the pen to required dosage (Keep one inch circumference away from belly button) (Do not inject into bruises or scar tissue)
• Pinch flesh on tummy between thumb and fore finger
• Insert needle and stop pinching
• Press base of pen to release medicine
• Leave needle in situ for 5 seconds
• Remove pen and needle
• Unscrew needle DISPOSE OF NEEDLE IN SHARPS BOX ONLY
